My cat, Lexi, always seems to find new ways to get into mischief. I'll share some of his previous exploits later, but last night he probably topped his mess-making ways: he managed to knock his litter box on its side.
I heard the noise while my husband and I were watching a movie in bed last night, but didn't realize what happened until this morning. Now, Lexi's litter box is the largest one I could find...because he's such a furious digger, the bigger box prevents all of litter from ending up on the floor. So it's not that light. He would have had to put most of his weight on the sides of the box to get it to tip.
Luckily for me, I had just changed the litter yesterday afternoon, so it was a pretty clean box. Also luckily for me, but not so much for Lexi, he was smart enough not to use the litter on the floor and waited for me to replace his box and litter to its normal position this morning. He had a pretty full bladder by then!

oh, naughty lexi....
1yikes! what if you get a sort of contained litter box? like the ones that are supposed to look like other things...like a plant...because then he wouldn't be able to tip it over or dump it on the floor...well, good luck and i hope you don't have to clean up after him too often! =)
2Hopefully it won't come to that...this was the first time he did that in over three years. I noticed he was digging a little more cautiously today!
3My cat haven't knocked over the litterbox itself, but constantly are trying to get into the box of cat litter (it's arm & hammer, a cardboard box with a spout.) They tip it over whenever they can, and it makes a mess. I have no idea why they do it. I guess I'll have to switch to abrand that somes in plastic, but I likt this one!
4You could do what I do with Lexi's food...buy a plastic container with an airtight lid (I guess it wouldn't really need to be airtight for litter though) and pour the litter into that when you bring it home from the store.
